Singer-songwriter Jo SoJeong takes everyday stories and turns them into poetic, sentimental music. With a rhythm slower than anyone else, shining melodies, and a voice that captivates the listener's ears with its first breath, she has constructed a clear identity as a musician. Jo SoJeong set off her musical career with the single “Incomplete Bar” in 2014. She then went on to place second in the 25th 'Yoo Jae Ha Music Scholarship' with “New Shoes” and won Mint Paper's singer-songwriter discovery project 'One Concours' in 2016, introducing herself to the indie music scene. 

In 2018, Jo SoJeong's album [Nine Stars] presented an artistic musicality as an auteur, following suit her fellow musician and professor Kwon Soonkwan of no reply. The EP [A diary for me], based on her collection of self-written poetry, displayed her literary talent, while the EP [Scene] ventured on sonifying visuals by reinterpreting films such as 'HER' and 'The Notebook' in her unique language. Even the silence between notes and the smallest echo of the piano transform into music and language in Jo SoJeong's hands. Jo SoJeong is slowly but steadily expanding and solidifying her musical possibilities with an exceptional subtlety. 

일상에서 흔히 만날 수 있는 이야기를 담아 한 편의 시와 같은 서정적인 음악으로 만들어 내는 싱어송라이터 조소정. 누구보다 느린 호흡과 반짝이는 멜로디, 숨을 내뱉자마자 귀를 사로잡는 깊이 있는 목소리를 통해 동시대 누구보다 분명한 아이덴티티를 구축하고 있다. 2014년, 싱글 ‘못갖춘마디’를 통해 활동을 시작한 그녀는 제25회 ‘유재하 음악경연대회’에서 ‘꼬까신’으로 금상을 수상했고, 2016년 민트페이퍼의 싱어송라이터 발굴 프로젝트 ‘원콩쿨’의 우승을 통해 본격적으로 씬에 이름을 알렸다.

2018년, 앨범 [아홉 가지 별]을 통해 선배이자 교수인 권순관(노리플라이)의 뒤를 이을 심미적인 음악성과 작가주의 방향성을 선보였고, 꾸준하게 쌓아놓은 시(詩)를 바탕으로 제작한 EP [들켜버려도 좋은(일기)]를 통해서는 발군의 문학적 재능을 엿볼 수 있었으며, ‘HER', ‘노트북’ 등의 영화를 그녀만의 언어로 재해석한 EP [Scene]에서는 시각을 소리화하는 모험을 시도하기도 했다. 음 사이의 정적과 피아노의 작은 메아리조차 음악과 언어로 변화시키는 조소정, 그녀는 또 다른 깊이의 섬세함을 통해 느리지만 단단한 자신만의 음악세계를 확장하고 있다.
